This is one of my photos used for the program of the First Wave’s 5th Cohort Presents: Works In Progress showing at the H’Doubler Theatre in Lathrop Hall at UW-Madison.
The photo was from a shoot with the 5th Cohort of First Wave from earlier. Every single one of them are so talented, and it really is an honor to work with them.
The First Wave Spoken Word and Hip Hop Arts Learning Community is a cutting-edge multicultural artistic program for incoming students at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Bringing together young artists and leaders from across the U.S and beyond, the First Wave Learning Community offers students the opportunity to live, study and create together in a close-knit, dynamic campus community. Administered by the Office of Multicultural Arts Initiatives (OMAI), the First Wave Learning Community is the first university program in the country centered on spoken word and hip-hop culture.

On a personal note, I am very grateful to be working for the Dance Department at UW-Madison. Also, I am going to China this summer to document through an internship the lives of indigenous farm families that live near the Wolong Nature Reserve. I am so excited to study abroad and intern in China!
